Volcanoes
A volcano is a mountain like form with a hole on the top where magma, ash, of rock are thrown up. Volcanic vents are openings near the earth's crust where the molted lava and volcanic gasses escape and are located at the top of a Volcano. Dormant volcanoes are volcanoes that are sleeping but you never know when they might wake up and become active again. There are three types of volcanoes: shield, composite, and cinder cone volcanoes. You will find them explained below. Most volcanoes are found on what is called, 'The Ring of Fire." There are so many volcanoes and earthquakes located there because the ring of fire is on one of the techtonic plates. There are also 3 ways a volcano can erupt, it can blow up ash, blow up lava, or blow up both.
Shield Volcanoes
Shield Volcanoes are mostly made of fluid lava flows. Flow after flow pours from a central summit vent. Shield Volcanoes don't explode. They are made of hot lava completely and mostly found in Hawaii.
Cindercone Volcanoes
Cinder Cone Volcanoes are the most violent types of volcanoes. Cinder cones blow up ash and they are usally found with other volcanoes. They only have one vent and are the simplest type of volcano. They are bowl shaped and don't rise over one thousand feet.
Composite Volcanoes
Composite Volcanoes are some of the biggest volcanoes or mountains in the world and they are cone shaped. Composite volcanoes can be violent or quiet and they are located at a subdution zone.
